brain tumor awareness - greeting card set
MAY IS BRAIN TUMOR AWARENESS MONTH
this set of greeting cards was made to raise awareness about one of the most complex & rare brain tumors, craniopharyngiomas. these tumors arise from the pituitary stalk, at the center of the skull base, and can cause significant complications with hormones, vision, and cognitive function.
artwork is by Lewis Larsen, a brave 4-year-old craniopharyngioma survivor (aka my son!). he painted these pictures & also came up with the sentiments, which he matched to each painting. this was a fun activity for us to do together, and he is so proud to have his own greeting card designs!
Lewis was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma when he was 10 months old. he did 1.5 years of biweekly infusions before he had his big brain surgery at Stanford, which resulted in a successful resection thanks to Dr. JFM - yay! today he is 4.5 year olds (almost 2 years tumor-free) & is thriving thanks to the help from lots of doctors, medication, & god’s healing grace.
we were lucky to benefit from years of surgical research & doctors researching new drugs. the Raymond A. Wood foundation is doing work to support these doctors & research!
read more about Lewis’ story: KPTV interview, & Stanford article, The Atlantic article.
profits from this set will go to Raymond A. Wood Foundation, which supports craniopharyngioma survivors, like my son.
