intro to modern calligraphy workshop in southeast portland

carter & rose is a beautiful gift shop on division in southeast portland, oregon. i actually used to live right around the corner from it, right before i married luke, but i never visited when i lived. i was so lucky to not only visit their gorgeous space the other day, but to teach a workshop! it was a small intimate class, the saturday before mother’s day. i was hoping that it would be a fun activity for mom & daughters to do together, and i was so happy that one of my friends agreed and brought her mom to the class. i think they paired it with lunch afterwards, and it sounded like the perfect date to me!

workshop: tea bar with jasmine henderson

this was such a fun workshop! this was basically the first intro to modern calligraphy workshop i had ever done, not counting the workshop i did in 2017 with just friends. i held it at tea bar on division in southeast portland and had a lovely time meeting the ladies who came to the class! we had a relaxing morning together learning the basics of calligraphy and honing our new skills with lots of practice.

it was so much fun hosting a calligraphy workshop at t project this past march. i have only hosted calligraphy workshops at tea bar so far, so it was nice to switch things up a bit and push myself out of my comfort zone.

we held the class at t project in nw portland, run by the lovely teri gelber. teri is so sweet & made me feel right at home. she is a tea expert and mixes her special tea blends by hand in her studio space that we got to work in.
